Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Technician
- Inspect, service and repair trailers and HGVs to DVSA and manufacturer standards
- Carry out diagnostics using systems including HALDEX, WABCO, and Knorr-Bremse
- Complete all compliance documentation and service records accurately
- Support breakdown repairs and ensure vehicles remain road-safe and reliable
- Follow all health and safety protocols and keep a clean, organised work area
- Engage with ongoing training to maintain and build technical knowledge
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Technician
Essential
- Proven experience working on HGVs or trailers
- Relevant industry qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
Desirable
- Class 1 (C+E) HGV licence
- IRTEC accreditation
- Experience with EBS diagnostics and braking systems
- Welding experience or certification
- Familiarity with tail lifts or double-deck trailer maintenance
