Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £46,000 to £56,500 (depending on shift, skills, qualifications, and overtime)

Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

Working Hours

Day Shift Option

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm plus alternate Saturdays 8:00am to 12:00pm

40 hours per week with 1 hour unpaid lunch

Night Shift Option

Monday to Friday, 5:00pm to 1:30am

40 hours per week with 30 minutes unpaid lunch

We are recruiting for a skilled HGV Technician to join a busy and professional workshop team working on a modern fleet of commercial vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or Truck Technician to choose between day or night shifts depending on your preference and maximise your earning potential.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGV vehicles in line with manufacturer and industry standards
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment
• Accurately identify and resolve defects to minimise vehicle downtime
• Complete inspections, servicing, and repair work to DVSA standards
• Maintain accurate job cards and service documentation
• Work effectively as part of a skilled workshop team
• Communicate clearly with colleagues regarding repair progress and vehicle status
• Support continuous improvement within the workshop environment

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician
• Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills
• Positive, proactive and team focused attitude
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• HGV Class 1 licence
• dealership experience
