We are recruiting for a skilled HGV Technician to join a busy and well equipped commercial vehicle workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician, or HGV Fitter to join a professional team where quality workmanship is recognised and rewarded.
As an HGV Technician, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy goods vehicles and commercial vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and ready for the road. If you enjoy fault finding, solving technical challenges, and working with the latest diagnostic equipment, this could be the ideal role for you.
Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using modern diagnostic equipment
- Complete routine inspections and preventative maintenance
- Repair and replace vehicle components to manufacturer and DVSA standards
- Accurately complete job cards, inspection reports, and workshop documentation
- Work efficiently to achieve workshop productivity targets
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
- Work closely with fellow HGV Technicians, HGV Mechanics, and the workshop team
- Follow all workshop processes, health and safety procedures, and quality standards
- Continue developing technical skills through ongoing manufacturer and industry training
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician, Heavy Vehicle Technician, or HGV Fitter
- Excellent diagnostic and fault finding skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- IRTEC accreditation
- HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
- Experience working within a commercial vehicle dealership or fleet workshop
- Manufacturer training or accreditation
